If I only had 2 minutes before I died – what would I say to you?
“Seek the Lord while He may be found;
That means “now” not wasting even a minute!
And don’t let anything distract you from this goal!
Call on Him while He is near
Just the fact that you are thinking about these things is enough to tell
you how close He is. Don’t presume there might be another chance.
We don’t have this privilege!
Let the wicked forsake his way
If you search for God with all your heart, you’ll automatically leave
wickedness: you can’t have both on the go. It’s either one or the other.
And the evil man his thoughts.
Open your Bible to this text in the middle of it – Isaiah 55:6ff –
it’s the only way to stop thinking our old self-centred thoughts
and begin to think thoughts of God.
Let him turn to the Lord and He will have mercy on Him,
You’re no longer at the centre of every plan, thought, and emotion. By
His grace, every thought will be transformed.
And to our God, for He will freely pardon
Hug him as you have never hugged anyone else!
It’s He who receivesyou with open arms!
There’s nothing more than you can do than to thank
Him with all your heart!
And if for some reason I was granted just another 2 minutes, what would I do? I’d give you an example of how to do it!
“A woman was there who had been losing blood for 12 years
This is a desperate person. It’s a ‘she’ and not a ‘he’ and because of her illness she’s quite emarginated. She’s got no future. She’s desperate.
No one could heal her and she had spent all she had on doctors.
Humanly, there’s no more hope – she’s a living corpse.
She came up behind Jesus
There is the difficulty of a large crowd, but she’s also a victim of shame
And touched the edge of His cloak
This is hope hoping beyond hope – just a touch – and right at the edge!
And immediately her bleeding stopped
Wow! To be well again after 12 years of agony!
This isn’t magic – it’s God’s touch of healing!
Jesus asked: Who was it who touched me?
What a seemingly ridiculous question – as Peter points out – all the crowd was touching him!
But Jesus said: “Someone touched me;
I know that power has gone out of me”
This is ‘conversion’ – from being sick you become whole.
You’ve been touched by God Himself.
The woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of everyone she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed.
Hers is a different touch from everyone else.
She was desperate – the crowd relatively indifferent.
They thought they were all o.k.
She knew she wasn’t!
Then He said to her:
“Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace. ”
It’s this that makes the difference that counts for eternity!
He calls her “daughter” – she’s a member of the family.
Saved by grace through faith, she’s at peace forever
This example is from the Gospel of Luke in the New Testament,
chapter 8 v 40ff
